Drop In H-1B Visa Fees Would Help Indian IT Firms

The immigration law firms have said today, sharp drop in H-1B visa filing fees to US might benefit numerous top Indian IT companies.

The additional filing fees of USD 4325 for H-1B visa was reduced by USD 2000 by the US govt earlier this month; this is very good news for the local IT industry. It would now be less costly for companies to file petition for individual workers as there is a saving of USD 2000 for each case said D Fakhoury to reporters, Managing Attorney for Fakhoury Law Group.

The above law group supports corporate clients to depute employees across the world under varied visa categories available in United States. The Top IT companies include Infosys, TCS and Wipro among others which apply for a large number of H-1B visas for the skilled workers to work in US each year.

The temporary visas that are essential for the skilled foreigners  to work in US, the India's 146 billion IT outsourcing industry has been a big beneficiary.

Last month, Nasscom in a study has said that, Indian IT based companies have invested more than US 2 billion in the year 2011-2013, and it had paid around USD 22.5 billion taxes to the US treasury in those years. Today it supports more than 4,11000 direct as well as indirect jobs that include around 300,000 held by US citizen’s and permanent residents.

Fakhoury said we see strong demand for H-1B visas this year from Indian IT, ITES, Engineering services as well as healthcare firms.  Our nation, India is poised to be a leader with human resources as well its ability to deliver.

We see that numerous changes has been made in the immigration law in the whole world. We find almost all nations are protecting their local labor force and wish to generate revenue as taxes from foreign employees, he said.

While commenting on the company’s expansion plans in India, Fakhoury has said it has opened an office in Mumbai and it will soon enter New Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai to serve the clients in a better as and efficient manner.
