The iconic Dubai structures are making a beeline into Guinness Book of World Records. Burj Khalifa as the tallest building has already made it. Now, at half the height of Burj Khalifa, JW Marriot Marquis Hotel had entered the Book of Records as the tallest hotel in the world. The Hotel is shaped like the trunk of a date-palm that is the icon of the Gulf region as a whole.
The other tallest Dubai structures that already figure in the Book of Records include the tallest residential building, Princess Towers, the largest shopping centre, Dubai Mall, the largest indoor ski resort, Ski Dubai.
The 355-metre-high Marriott hotel has 77 floors, has twin towers, 804 guest rooms with panoramic view in each tower, is spread over 8,000 sq metres and has 14 restaurants, two ballrooms, bars and lounges.
The hotel that is self-contained for business people has been thrown open to guests, and the formal opening is expected to be by Dubai ruler, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in New Year.
