E-Tourist Visa Daws The Attention Of Over 550 Overseas Tourists In Two Months

As per the new reports of the city, Ahmedabad has seen a steady rise of about 145% in overseas tourist arrivals on electronic tourist visa within two months. Few of the concerned sources stated that over 228 foreign tourists have arrived the city through the newly introduced system on e-tourist visa in the month of September. Reportedly, the count has increased to 560 in October.

It's a known that, Ahmedabad along with the other six major airports of the nation has attained a in-principle grant for an e-tourist visa in August 2015, permitting overseas nationals of around 113 nations to avail the newly introduced scheme. But, due to some issues, this special scheme was introduced in late August at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Among all the major seven airports, Ahmedabad has topped second in receiving the highest number of foreign tourists in October month followed by Jaipur with 158, Tiruchirapalli with 119, Gaya with 45 count and 13 each in Varanasi as well as the Lucknow, said the sources.

And Amritsar has topped the chart with the maximum count of 869 tourists. Knowing this BoI ( Bureau of Immigration) has planned to set up special counters in the international terminal arrival area of Ahmedabad airport.

According to new statisitcs, it was found that the nation has seen a steady rise in the count of overseas tourists of about 6.80 lakh during October 2015 comapred to 6.68 lakh during the same month of 2014. Of these, over 12,648 overseas travelers visited the nation in through Ahmedabad airport by making a record of 73% arrivals in September 2015.

Sources also noted that maximum number of tourists who have arrived the nation on e-tourist visa at Ahmedabad airport are from US, Germany, Canada, Australia, Russia and France among others.

If the electronic tourist visa system gets more good response, arrivals of overseas tourists can increase up to 30%, said the Union ministry of tourism.
