Employment Numbers Have Reached All Time High

A record number of people in UK are in work after another major fall in unemployment numbers and a further decrease in the numbers of people claiming jobseeker's allowance.

Unemployment numbers are down by 37,000 and almost 30 million people are in job.

People who are classified as economically inactive, including those who look after a relative or who have given up looking for a job, fell by 13,000 to just over 9 million.

"These are very positive, showing that despite difficult economic circumstances, unemployment is lower than when this Government took office.”

"But we are not complacent, and will continue making sure we give job seekers the support and training they need to achieve their goal of returning to work."
