The French Government proposes a new legislation to reduce the procedural hurdles for foreign nationals who wish to reside in France.
The Government expects that the new ground-breaking legislation will attract more foreigners and assist them to assimilate into the society. In addition, France wants to gain on its delay to entice the best and brightest minds from overseas.
French authorities anticipate that this new bill will lessen the loads of paperwork and delays caused by a few of antiquated sections of its immigration system.
According to the newly proposed legislation, residency permits can be made valid for a period of four years, which would mean that a lot of paperwork will be reduced for both foreigners and the government. The individuals who wish to acquire an extended visa must undertake language and civics classes after which, a ten-year residence permit will be granted for those individuals who are able to read and understand basic text of French.
The new bill also incorporates the introduction of a new visa category referred as “Talent passport” which allows foreign nationals of specific categories such as artists, business leaders, scientists and athletes to easily reside and work in the country. This new visa will substitute various other kinds of visas that are issued based on individual’s situations and reasons for residing in French. The main intention of four-year visas is to draw skilled workers to France and to make it easier for them to work in the country.
