From 2nd November, Germany Consulate is planning to launch the VIS (Visa information system) in our nation (India).
A senior diplomat has added that, with the launch of Roll out Region 20, which has already been initiated by the European nations, it would be introduced in our nation India and Pakistan as well as in other neighboring nations.
-Finger Print to be taken Single Time
Martin Rojek, Head of visa section, Germany at Chennai has said that, once the individual’s finger print has been taken from the visa applicant, when an applicant does apply for the Schengen visa, which is essential to travel to any European nation, they would not be asked again.
The Consulate General has explained that, the information can also be accessed through the German database. The information would be stored for about 59 month’s inorder to issue visa to tourist, trade and businessmen.
Martin was in Chennai city, to have interaction with industrialists and to attend (GIRT) German Indian Round Table meet which was held last night at Residency.
The GIRT Centres, which does help the local industries to connect with the German Counterparts for development of mutual business are located in Pune, Coimbatore and New Delhi.
When asked, whether there is any proposal to launch finger print centre at Coimbatore. Martin answered, they would definitely consider, when proposition does become viable.
Meanwhile the consulate, is expecting issuance of more number visas from metro city Chennai, to cross the magical number 20,000 this year, when compared to previous year, wherein they have issued 18000 visas.
