Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak of Malaysia has returned home with good tidings from the World Economic Forum summit in Davos. He told a big gathering that received him at Kuala Lumpur airport that the world economic leaders considered Malaysian economy as one good spot in the world facing recession and other problems. He regarded the praise as success of the transformation process that the country pursued.
Malaysia has had leaders with vision who have transformed a commodity-exporting country to one that could take up value addition like developed countries. Indeed, Malaysia has elbowed out rich countries like New Zealand in its progress. The visionary leaders have enabled collaborations and tie-ups and most favored nation treatment to countries that matter. As a result, Kuala Lumpur has developed by give and take in the comity of nations. As a well-wisher nation it has topped the list.
Datuk Tun Razak also conducted `Malaysia night’ on the sidelines of the Davos conference where many trade queries were received. He pointed out on the occasion that he went abroad only for the country’s sake and not with a view to making political capital out of it. Malaysia is fortunate that its leaders were not those who would politicize whatever they did, but positive people who had development as top criterion.
