Helioz, Austrian social enterprise will try to raise the funds necessary to show that millions of people all over the world can have access to safe drinking water using only the solar power and an innovative device called WADI starting August 20.
The money will be collected through indiegogo.com, a crowd funding platform and will help finance an unprecedented health impact study in India.
‘Using Solar Power for Safe drinking water’ – this vision is at the centre Helioz, Austrian based startup.
Helioz developed a UV measurement device that notes the progress of solar water distillation in a PET-bottle. One just needs to attach WADI to a bottle filled with contaminated water, leave it in the sun and wait for the smiley face to appear.
Due to the power of the sun's UV-rays and WADI's continuous measurement, safe drinking water is available for everyone.
Every year, 400,000 children under the age of 5 die due to waterborne diseases in India. Helioz is going to conduct a scientific health impact study in India using the money raised from Indiegogo.
The study’s aim is to prove WADI's effectiveness by verifying at least a 50% reduction of waterborne diseases by the use of WADI.
Helioz announced that starting August 20, 2013, anyone can join this campaign and be among the 1st to receive a WADI or win a trip to India to participate in the study along with the team of Helioz.
