In order to hire skilled foreign engineers UK government has proclaimed that it is relaxing immigration rules for gas and oil sectors.
The statement has boosted the sector knowing that 20 new engineering work groups will be additional for exemption list. It helps businesses in filling the vacant positions by bringing skilled foreign workers.
The companies (Oil and Gas) can now provide work for workers, from outside Europe.
The newly created job categories will be added to the Shortage Occupation List (SOL) by immigration authority, as advised by Migration Advisor Committee (MAC.).
The register of jobs SOL is exempted from the strict immigration rules. It limits the employers who are taking skilled foreigners.
The new jobs categories such as production, electrical engineers and mechanical will be added to the SOL.
The decision of relaxing the strict immigration rules benefits the Aberdeen’s gas and oil sectors, as it is finding difficulty in filling the vacancy by skilled workers.
"The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has listened to the concerns of employers and has taken steps to make it easier for firms to recruit outside Europe," Turner added.
"MAC has acknowledged that there is a shortage of specialist skills in Aberdeen which is vital to the oil and gas industry and that it's not possible to train people for those posts in the short term."
