Hong Kong Immigration Rules Under HKSAR

It would be interesting for Hong Kong potential immigrants to know that the latest restrictions and policy decisions taken by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) are rather restrictive in nature. The HKSAR authorities have granted permission for entry of some immigrants except in certain specific cases.

The visa or entry permit can be refused by HKSAR except in the case of:

• Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Passport
• Hong Kong Certificate of Identity
• British National Overseas Passport
• Hong Kong Seaman’s identity book
• Hong Kong re-entry permit. This is for entry from Mainland China and Macao special administrative region
• Hong Kong’s Document of Identity for visa purposes
• Hong Kong Permanent identity Card
• Travel documents that have the following criteria bearings: “Holder’s eligibility for Hong Kong permanent identity card verified” “ the holder of this travel document has the right to land in Hong Kong Section2AAA, Immigration Ordinance ,Cap 115 Laws of Hong Kong.”

In case the above rules do not apply then one requires a visa or enter permit to study, work, to do business or take up residency in HKSAR. On the other hand, you may not need an entry or visa in case one is only visiting Hong Kong, much depending of course upon your nationality and the kind of travel document you are carrying.

Other rules under HKSAR

• A visa or entry permit is essential to do business in Hong Kong. In case one is not in possession then he or she will not be given permission to enter the country
• Visitor to Hong Kong must have sufficient funds on hand during the stay period without having to work
• By law those visiting Hong Kong are not permitted to take up any kind of unemployment whether paid or unpaid, or join or establish business, or perhaps enter a school as a student or try to change their immigration status on arrival

HKSAR undoubtedly has major role to play in Hong Kong immigration matters.
