Creating hundreds of jobs in Australia, Hewlett-Packard is all-set to start a new research facility in SA (South Australia). Under a deal which will be announced by the government of South Australia, this new setup will also include the relocation of a few roles from Victoria.
To boost its presence in South Australia, the deal is also including the $55 billion company, Hewlett-Packard, in supporting new IT degrees at Australian local universities. HP already holds a contract worth $120 million and valid until 2018, under which many SA government agencies are provided with mainframe computing services.
It was an original contract between Hewlett-Packard and the government of South Australia valid for 8 years, and in mid-2012 it was extended until May, 2018.
Upon finalizing the contract, the fresh deal for the new IT-related jobs being transferred from Victoria and research facility could be announced soon.
The other parts of its operations in South Australia are being restructured by Hewlett-Packard, as it signed a long-term lease with fund manager and developer Commercial & General in October to take a huge amount of space until 2025 at an office complex at Felixstow in the north-east part of Adelaide.
