A latest HSBC poll of migrants in 50 countries shows Canada as the world’s top nation for the best place to migrate and quality of life.
David Norton from HSBC said that they have seen that there is an apparent trade-off between overall quality of life and income. He added that several top performers in their first report, which investigated the best places to earn and save money, have dropped to the bottom of this report’s league table. Norton said that it is clear that the places where salaries may not be as high, like Australia and Canada, are where migrants are really enjoying not only a heightened quality of life but are also fitting in easily in their new communities.
The survey interviewed 3,100 migrants from 50 countries, who gave immigration to Canada the highest marks in highest quality of life along with accommodation quality, followed by Australia.
Most of the immigrants in the country are skilled professionals who migrated to Canada on a Canadian Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Visa. Currently, CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) has a Priority Occupation List. This is a list of occupations which are in demand in Canada, and potential migrants working in these occupations are eligible for skilled immigration to Canada even without having a job offer from an employer in Canada. For example, people with an occupation of bricklayer, plumber or welder will be able to apply for Canada Immigration as a matter of priority with the possibility to arrive in the country within months of starting the application process.
