A recent report stated that the ICT job market of Australia is very stable and the professionals in the sector are earning pretty well when compared to other countries.
As per the Candle Salary Intelligence report, an ICT program manager in the NSW energy and utilities sector earns more than $500K while in Victoria, a project director with 10 years' internet industry experience receives $422K. Survey also found that some of the senior business analysts in the financial services sector earn up to $500/hour.
Best payers industries for ICT staff are the financial services and telecoms industries. Financial and telecom sector pay an average salary of $95,496 and $95,116 respectively.
Australian Computer Society (ACS) last month revealed in a report that the number of students graduating from ICT courses in Australia have decreased; this may lead to substantial skills shortage in the sector.
“The society's annual remuneration survey showed ICT salaries grew by 3.9 per cent between May 2011 and 2012 and the forthcoming year could see similar gains. Senior talent, particularly with corporate and commercial skills, will continue to be highly sought after as more organisations embrace digital. Patterson said.
