Nova Scotia province is witnessing a record-breaking population increase thanks to newcomers and also inter-provincial migrants.

Statistics Canada Reveals Details of Population Growth in Nova Scotia

Statistics Canada measures to show the Provinces in the Atlantic region noticed that their population increased by 12,339 residents within 1 October 2018, and 1 October 2019. This comprises of 7,165 newcomers who came to the province of Nova Scotia during these 12 months.

This increase of 1.28% is the Nova Scotia province’s fastest population growth over a period of 12-months since 1972 and pushed Nova Scotia province’s population to a record-breaking level of 976,768 as of 1 October 2019.

Population increase within 1 July 2019 and 1 October 2019, also established a new record for tenure of three months. The third quarter (Q3) of 2019 observed Nova Scotia province’s population increased by 5,373 individuals, of which newcomers estimated for 2,471.

The Nova Scotia Government announced that this was the highest immigration for a single quarter as per the records back to World War II.

Inter-provincial migrants estimated for 1,090 new residents to the province of Nova Scotia. The provincial government told that this is the 16th continuous quarter of positive net inter-provincial migration.

These population numbers demonstrate the positive influence of immigration in the province. Immigration Minister of Nova Scotia, Lena Metlege Diab, stated in a press release.
