It is very important to know your rights when you are working in Overseas, in Australia. The Fair Work Ombudsman in Australia advised overseas workers to ensure they know their rights. Australia workplace laws are applicable to most of the people working in Australia and international students, migrants and visa holders are included in this. In its bulletin, it has communicated that full time minimum wage for adults is $16.37 an hour or if in the week it is $622.20. For casuals they get extra 24% an hour. The spokesman explained that these are the minimum amounts depending on the industry and the jobs that are likely entitled. Added to this, Ombudsman communicates that foreign workers are those who are not citizens of Australia or Permanent residents and are international students, seasonal workers and backpackers.
One must have a permanent visa or temporary long stay in order to work in Australia and all international workers have rights to protect them from discrimination related to race, religion, color and other reasons when it is a matter of jobs in Australia. Employers who provide work for workers, they have to ensure that they engage foreign workers by complying with both immigration and Australian work place laws.
