Improvised Visa Processing At UK Immigration

John Vine, the independent chief inspector of UK, issued a report congratulating the UK Immigration Service on improvement in services offered to the Skilled Worker Visas (Tier 2), Student Visas (Tier 4) and High Value Migrant Visas (Tier 1).

The report contains the findings of announced visits Mr. Vine made along with his team to the Home Office Facilities of Loughborough in Leicestershire, Manchester and Croydon. These 'spot checks' were designed to find out the progress UK Immigration staff had made in implementing Mr Vine’s recommendations from his previous visits to the facilities in 2012 and 2010.

Mr Vine's visit to the ‘Public Enquiry Office’ at Croydon, the ‘East Midlands Reporting Centre’ in Loughborough and the ‘Command and Control Unit’ in Manchester are dealt with in the report. John Vine, whose reports are generally critical of UK immigration, was impressed with the progress of all three offices.

John Vine and his team found that there had been tremendous improvements at the Croydon PEO (Public Enquiry Office). PEOs deal with applications for indefinite leave to remain in the UK and premium, 'same day' applications for UK visas. They even deal with postal applications that should be dealt with under four weeks.

John Vine was pleased to note that the statistics for January 2013 show that 91.5% of the customers were now receiving a same day decision. He said that surveys show that customer satisfaction levels with the service received are increasing.
