In 2015, Many International Students Have Chosen Australian Universities

More number of foreign students have decided to do courses in Australian universities as well as  colleges and English schools in 2015 when compared to any year in history. It has also been found, a huge rebound was driven by the lower dollar &  easier visa’s.  We find the scheme’s  which does allow students to stay for 18 months after graduation.

Nearly 147,000 students have started courses in the initial three months this year, above the previous first quarter record of 142400 reached in 2009 at the peak of the last education export boom.

Universities and other higher education institutions also took their largest ever intake of new international students this year, with 61,493 starting courses in the first quarter.

Responding to the figures, federal education Minister Christopher Pyne will this week’s commission a review about economic benefits of education, exports,which will focus on the additional income and job opportunities created in local communities and by highlighting its potential to help fill the gap in export income caused by the end of the resource boom.

Even as the resource exports come under pressure, education, exports grew 14% in the past year to be worth $17.5 billion annually. Education is now, Australia’s third largest export industry after iron ore and coal, and the largest service export. It is substantially larger than the tourism, which is worth $14.5 billion annually.

Chaired by Mr.Pyne, with other key ministers as members to meet the large number of representatives of the international education industry. Thursday’s roundtable is the first opportunity for the govt’s new, high-level co-coordinating council for the international education.

June’s announcement of co-coordinating council also does include foreign affairs minister Julie Bishop, Industry Minister lan Macfarlane, trade minister Andreww Robb, and assistant Education Minister Simon Birmingham and assistant immigration Minister Michaelia cash, that means for the first time an Australian govt has a body to co-ordinate its approach to the increasingly important industry.

The council’s main task would be to finalize the govt’s national strategy for the international education.
