The number of French-speaking applicants' announced Invitations to Apply by the Express Entry system of Canada increased to 4.5% as of Dec 2018, from previous 2.9% in 2017.
While Quebec, a French-speaking province is battling on what to do with the 18,000 backlog immigration applications and the rest of Canada is welcoming French-speaking applicants with open arms.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada spotlighted the number as it declared Calgary as its inaugural Welcoming Francophone Community on Mar 13, 2019.
It means the Alberta city will get a part of $12.6 million in funding across the following three years to support, attract and combine French-speaking immigrants into the society. Calgary is one of 14 communities over Canada to get a share of the funding, with the remaining to be declared in due course.
A current strategy at all the government level is attempting to promote Francophone communities in Quebec outside through immigration, and the retention and integration of current French-speaking permanent residents.
Ahmed Hussen, Federal Immigration Minister states the initiative is on making latest French-speaking permanent residents seem to welcome.
Francophone communities can create even further inviting communities where French-speaking immigrants can feel good and where they will have further chances to make Canada their home.
Through the initiation of the Strategy of Francophone Immigration, Canada is dedicated to improving the portion of French-speaking immigrants in minority communities of Francophone.
The latest initiative is a section of the federal government plan of Canada to boost Francophone immigration Quebec outside to 4.4% of whole newcomers by 2023.
