Increase In Indian Students To Canada

Statistics reveal that the number of Indian students applying for Canada visas has increased fourfold in just three years. It is estimated that 14,000 Indian students went to Canada this year. It is expected that the number will increase to 20,000 in 2011.

Two reasons have been identified for the increase: easier path to permanent residency for foreign students and other is the eligibility criteria leading to higher Canada visa approval rate.  The other contribution is due to dip in Australian visa applications from Indian students.

A recent Canadian government study showed the average international student contributed CA$25,000 to the economy.
