India Aims To Reduce E-tourist Visa Fee

Our nation, India has reduced the visa fees for  all tourists who arrive using ETV (Electronic Tourist Visa), which has been very successful. It has helped in facilitating nearing to 900% jump in the arrival of tourists.

India’s fee for ETV is about $60 and this particular facility is extended to 113 nations. However, there are numerous nations which do offer on arrival, visa or ETV to Indians at comparatively lesser amount. Few do offer for $20,$ 35 or $ 40 and few of them charge no fee’s for visa.

Most of these particular nations, are asking our nation India, to reciprocate similar gesture.

 Senior official of Home ministry said that, following the request from the External Ministry, the Home Ministry has said that, the feasibility to reduce the Fees of ETV and it has decided for rationalization of  fee structure.

Eventhough a formal announcement needs to be made, it has been learnt that there would be around total of 4 fee slabs between $40 to nil. The  ETV would be dependent on the basis of reciprocity.

According to the  Scheme of ETV, the applicant tends to get email which authorizes him/her to travel to our nation, India, after it has been approved ,he/she can take authorization print out and travel.

On arrival, the visitors are required to present the authorization to immigration authorities who will later stamp at entry into the nation.

Presently India does offer ETV facility to numerous citizens belonging to 113 nations and it intends to raise the number to 150 nations by March 31 2016. Across the nation, tourist may arrive at 16 airports which have been designated.

As per the official estimate, nearing to 1,69,976 tourists have arrived  using facility of visa E-tourist between the period between January to August this year when compared to about 17,120 for corresponding period of 2014, showing a growth of 892.9 %.
