India and the US have determined to work together for executing the Digital India initiative prior to President Barack Obama’s visit to New Delhi on republic day.
In the two-day meet of the US-India ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Working Group, the Indian delegation lead by RS Sharma raised issues with regards to H1-B visa and refusal of more number of visas to Indian skilled professionals.
According to a mutual statement, both the nations have agreed to explore the opportunities that facilitate the operation of Digital India initiative. In addition to this, they have decided to use the ICT as a tool to increase economic opportunity, bolster productivity, create jobs and encourage citizens. Moreover, discussions regarding international mobility of Indian skilled professionals were also held in the meet.
Sources stated that a broad pact was made on the significance of policies that develop innovation in the ICT sector, ease the data flow between the borders and promote the global and open nature of the internet as a podium for betterment of economy.
Additionally, discussions were held towards developing manufacturing and investment, internet governance, IT, skilled professionals mobility and various other issues concerned with investment, trade and the ease of doing a business.
