Indian immigration authorities have warned the UK Government that Indian owned IT companies would be re-located to other countries in case UK authorities are adamant about their strict immigration rules which do not favor Indian IT professionals located in UK.
UK had recently decided to reduce the number of migrants being allowed into UK via the Tier 2 intra-company transfer (ICT) route. This has not been well received by IT professionals in UK and also by the Indian immigration authorities as the salary threshold of the entrants via ICT would go up, thus reducing the number of IT migrants from India and also would restrict the number of UK Tier 2 ICT visas.
This displeasure was expressed in a meeting held between commerce and industry ministers and officials of the respective two countries here in New Delhi recently. Indian authorities also said that Indian businessmen traveling to UK on business were also facing a lot of difficulties.
Indian authorities also said that since the closure of Tier post- study group work visa route, students from India are now looking out for opportunities in other countries. Earlier, the Indian students enjoyed the benefit of working in UK after completing their graduate studies there. They were able to receive some of the money spent on education abroad and it is rather difficult to do so.
