Indian Languages Are Most Common In UK

Three Indian languages have been listed in the top 6 spoken languages in Britain.

Punjabi is the third most common language in England and Wales and used by 2.73 lakh people. Bengali is the fifth commonest language and is followed by Gujarati, jointly spoken by 4.34 lakh people in England and Wales. Tamil language was ranked 12^th with just over a lakh people using it as the main spoken language.

English and Polish stood first in the spoken language list.

List of top 10 languages are: English, Polish, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Arabic, French, Chinese and Portuguese.
