intra company transfers sponsored by foreign companies in UK, particularly from India brought in thousands of non-EU workers to UK. And the Home Office admitted that ‘intra company transfers’ Or ICTS which allows bringing non-EU nationals who are already on their payroll, is not affected by the interim cap, as per reports by The Sunday Telegraph.
The Home office disclosed names of 20,000 employers registered to bring skilled migrant workers into Britain on Tier 2 Visas. According to Home office data, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) sponsored 4600 of its employees to come to Britain in 2008 through the ICTS route. Infosys Technologies Limited and Wipro Technologies brought in people through ICTS route. Indians made up 70 percent of those brought to Britain on ICTs followed by US, South Africa, Japan and China. The immigration minister, Damian Green said: “It is important that we attract the brightest and the best people who can make a real difference to our economic growth, but immigration is too high and needs to be reduced. The Government has announced it will introduce a limit on economic migration from outside EU as part of work to scale back net migration to the levels of the 1990s, to tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands".
