International Experience Canada: Opens Applications For 2020 Season

The International Experience Canada (I.E.C) program opens to young adults who intend to live and work in Canada temporarily. Canada opened its several IEC pools for the 2020 season year on December 9.

The IEC program enables individuals to obtain a taste of Canada and maybe the initial step towards Canada PR.

The I.E.C selects applicants below three categories:

• Working Holiday
• Young Professionals
• International Co-op

Young adults, who aged between 18 to 30 years, from one of 36 selected nations may now produce a profile and, if qualified, be entered into their nation’s pool of applicants for their chosen category or categories.

Working Holiday Category

Canada will announce an open work permit to individuals who successfully apply by the Working Holiday stream.

This work permit is flexible and suitable for those who:

• Don't have an employment offer;
• Aspire to work for greater than one employer;
• Aspire to work in greater than one location;
• Aspire to earn additional money to travel.

Young Professionals Category

The Young Professionals stream is for the individuals who:

• Have an employment offer that offers their professional growth;
• Intend to work for the same organization and in the same place for their complete stay in Canada.

The employment offer needs to be paid and candidates cannot be self-employed. Victorious applicants will get an employer-specific work permit, indicating they can only work for the company for the specific time and at the place designated on the permit.

The employer needs to meet all labor laws in the province or territory, it includes minimum wage criteria.

International Co-op (Internship) Category

Students exploring for work experience in Canada may appeal by the International Co-op stream if they:

• are enrolled at a post-secondary college;
• have an employment offer or internship/ work placement in Canada;
• need work placement to finish their studies;
• intend to work for the same organization and in the same place for their stay in Canada.

Canada gives an employer-specific work permit by this category, so victorious candidates need to stay with the same company for the time indicated on their work permit.

The internship needs to be directly connected to the applicant’s area of study. The employer needs to meet all labor laws in the province or territory, it includes minimum wage criteria.

Staying in Canada Later IEC

It is probable to turn an I.E.C into a path towards Canada PR. The Canadian Experience Class is for individuals who have a minimum of one year of work experience in Canada. I.E.C participants may be qualified for the Federal Skilled Trades Class (F.S.T.C) or Federal Skilled Worker Class (F.S.W.C). All these immigration programs are handled by the Federal Express Entry system.
