As per the new data, an unprecedented number of international students have been moved to Australia, this year inorder to study, and growth recorded is about 2.6%.
The figures from the immigration dept have revealed that almost 230,000 student visas were offered in the year 2014 to 2015 financial year and they expect to issue more in coming year.
Of the total number of student visas offered, about 21.9% were offered to Chinese students while grants to a student from India also have remained high. The number of grants to students from South Korea, Brazil and Thailand has increased when compared to previous years.
The new international student visa framework for 2016 should make it easier for the students to make their applications improve the process.
It is the 5th successive year of growth in the international student number and comes at a time when Australian govt has been encouraging more overseas students to come to the nation.
This growth is considered to be a great outcome for Australia given the importance of international students of the Australian economy. It offers both competitiveness in the international education market and helps in improving the integrity in visa processing said the immigration minister Peter Dutton.
Richard Colbeck, Minister for Tourism and international education, has said as per the new data it demonstrates Australia’s continuo’s success in the very competitive global education market.
Both ministers have acknowledged the Australian govt’s commitment in enhancing the Australia’s global reputation for delivering high-quality both study as well as living experience.
Australia’s first national strategy for international education is being developed to offer a 10-year outlook to strengthen the sector further.
“The strategy puts the student experience at the heart of all our efforts, to ensure international education sector is adaptive, innovative and also globally engaged. It is highly attractive to modern learners,” Colbeck explained.
The international student should have a valid visa for the duration of their studies in Australia. The most international student would require a visa.
The Students inorder to have partners and dependent children under the age of 18 to accompany them to Australia, need to apply for a visa. The family members are secondary visa holders, and they are counted in student visa numbers. A parent or a guardian seeking to accompany an international student to Australia might be eligible to apply for student guardian visa.
