Brexit In No Way Helps The Workers Of British

There is a belief that the real winners of migration system after Brexit happens will be employers and not the British workers.

History has proved that the strength of the Workers becomes a force, only through united and combined action. When marginalized and exploited workers raise their voice and stand up, workers in better positions have to extend a helping hand. Struggles of the past centuries have played a transforming role in British trade unionism and have succeeded to make it a force to herald social change.

With the end of free movement rules of EU Workers envisaged in Britain, they would have fewer rights in Britain and would not be able to defend their pay and conditions of employment. There is a warning in a report “Another Europe is possible’ released which says that that the real winners of migration system after Brexit will be employers and not the British workers.

“Brexit and Immigration: Prioritizing the Rights of all Workers” - has been written by Cooper and Gardner, which says that any managed or generous migration system of the future would be worse for European as well as the British workers when compared to the present status. The free movement empowers the workers to live and work and also study, and the European citizens enjoy the right to fight for better pay and conditions so that their future improves.

Instead of the free movement the managed migration judges migrant workers by their economic value. There are strict terms and more power used by employers to bring workers, who decide if an employee can continue to stay in the country. With such curbs organizing for rights and seeking protections becomes tough.  When there are fewer rights for migrant workers exploitation is bound to be more

There is a great influence of xenophobic media where the local workers feel that they will be directly benefited if migration is limited. This is similar to the position when the working of women was opposed in the past

Research has suggested that entry of women into the workforce had a huge impact which helped to raise wages. The failure to cooperate with women workers was unethical and weakened the workers. Women were exploited, and this was to the liking of big businesses.

Britain today has a deregulated labor market, with some major businesses employing workers on reprehensible terms leading to inequality in society. The workforce should not be divided further, but there must be a united campaign for better deals.
This includes fresh rules to enhance collective bargaining in the low-skill sectors, increased minimum wages, and ensuring that the employers do not use increase penalties and use foreign workers to undercut wages. There must be investment strategies to improve the fate of migrants and regions suffering neglect and deprivation.

The development of free movement in Europe has accompanied an inhuman immigration policy where 5,000 people died at European borders, trying to reach it in 2016. This gives scope for exploitation because migrants, who arrive from outside the EU, do not carry permissions, and face an exploiting illegal economy.

Globalization today is a scenario of free capital but controlled people. The big businesses should be restrained from doing what they want, wherever possible, whenever they want. They must cease to support each other with more rights and protectionist policies, and their expansion drives need to be constrained.

When Britain connects the Domestic and foreign policy and supports an equal, peaceful, generous and sustainable world, a better nation will emerge. Thus an exit without deep thought and sound policies will not be of any benefit to workers in Britain. It is time to devise such policies and sooner the better for all stakeholders.
