The UK Commonwealth Summit is set to take place between March the 9th and 10th and reports in the media, including the Sunday Telegraph, suggest that India could be in line for a better trade deal with the UK.
There are around 30 ministers and 60 businesses set to attend and speculation puts better trade deals for some Commonwealth countries at the top of the agenda.
The suggestions come amid a period of change with the UK set to leave the EU. Other countries which could benefit from the same trade liberalisation include Nigeria and Australia.
Speaking to a Sunday Telegraph representative, Lord Marland suggested that it was a natural for the UK to seek better trade deals with Commonwealth countries as they were already intrinsically linked in terms of language, culture and sport.
The event will also raise discussions in reference to finance, technology and inward investment.
