The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proclaimed that Japan is set to ease Tourist Visa requirements for four Asian countries.
According to a statement given by the Ministry, Japan is considering to waive tourist visa requirements for Indonesians holding e-passports on prior enrollment. The country is going to ease requirements of both single-entry and multiple-entry tourism visas for citizens of Vietnam and Philippines. Additionally, beginning from this summer, multiple-entry visas will be issued by Japan for Indian nationals.
The Ministry also said that the main intention behind these measures is to boost tourism in Japan and to entice 20 million international visitors, to contribute to the growth strategies besides promoting people-to-people exchanges. Further details of the measures are not yet determined.
To fuel country’s economy, the government is trying to double the number of foreign visitors by the time of 2020 Tokyo Olympics and threefold it by 2030. It has also determined to twice the number of duty-free shops across the country to 10,000 before the Tokyo games.
