Statistics Canada released the report for employment in June on 5th July.
According to this report a marginal change registered in the total number of jobs created in Canada during June 2013. The unemployment remained at 7.1%.
During the first half on of 2013, employment grew at average jobs of 14000 per month, it was 27,000 during the second half of 2012.
27000 more jobs were created in the areas of professional, scientific and technical services in the month of June increased by 27,000 in June. This is more than 4.9% (63000) compared with the corresponding period of 2013. This is among the highest growth rates among all industries.
The employees of private, public and self-employed segment saw an increase in employment with 137000 more jobs with 1.2% increase rate. Of this employment rate is higher among the self employed at 1.9% with 51000 more jobs.
Little change was noticed in Manufacturing & Construction Industries. It remained constant at 6.2% annual growth.
However, Accommodation & Food services segment saw a decline of 20000 jobs along with information, culture and recreation sector with 15,000 jobs.
At the provincial level Manitoba gained the maximum with 7300 jobs in the month of June 2013. This pushed the unemployment rate by 0.7%. Compared with the corresponding period in 2012 the increase in the employment rate is 1.5% more.
Saskatchewan saw an increase of jobs in June by 4,300. With this increase, the unemployment rate reduces by 0.8% points to 3.7%. This is the lowest unemployment across all provinces.
The provinces of New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island saw a decline of 5200 & 1100 respectively.
In Ontario, part time employment registered a growth. However the employment opportunities for full timers were limited.
Yukon saw increased employment by 600 from June 2012 to June 2013 resulting in the unemployment rate declining from 7.8% to 5.3% over the same period.
Employment in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories saw a little change in June 2013 compared with June 2012. Over the same period, the unemployment rate decreased by 2.0 % points to 13.7% in Nunavut.
Quebec saw an increase of 1.2% increased in June 2013.
The fold hit province of Alberta was relatively unaffected as no change in the unemployment was noticed.
Average hourly wages increased by 2% compared with the same period in 2012.
