As a means of refurbish the $14 billion international education industry, Australian Education Minister, Christopher Pyne agreed to open the Australian jobs market to more international students who graduated from Australian universities.
Mr. Pyne said that the Abbott government will move fast to extend the visa process to training colleges, and maximize career opportunities for the best international graduates of Australian Universities.
Mr. Pyne told the AIEC (Australian International Education Conference) in Canberra that he will work with Immigration Minister Scott Morrison to raise the foreign student market while maintaining educational quality and visa integrity.
Mr. Pyne’s speech was welcomed by Universities Australia speech as showing the Australian government's intention to accelerate overseas education policy in the advent of declining export revenue and enrollments.
Deloite, an accountancy firm’s report identified that in the advent of receding mining investment boom, education exports is one of the 5 ‘super-growth’ sectors in Australia offering prosperity to the country.
Several hundreds of delegates from around the world attended the conference, all of whom were from the field of education.
Mr. Pyne cited forecasts that the middle class population of the Asia-Pacific region will rise to 3.2 billion by 2030 and that the number of youngsters in the world aspiring to study abroad will double to over 7 million by 2020.
