As per the findings announced on 22 Jan 2019 by the Pew Research Center, a bipartisan think tank located in Washington DC, around 8 out of 10 American citizens want further high-skilled individuals to immigrate to the U.S. The equivalent or higher level of public assistance for extremely skilled immigrants presents in the UK, Sweden, Canada, Australia, and Germany the report reveals.
Higher than 50% of respondents in Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Greece also announced they support further high-skilled immigration, as per the Pew study.
In Israel, hardly 42% stated that they want higher college-educated immigrants. In Italy, where just 35% of those surveyed indicated they support further high-skilled immigration.
Over the 12 nations, younger adults, highly educated and with higher incomes lead to be more supportive of boosting highly skilled individuals to immigrate to their nations, as per the Pew report authors.
Australia and Canada were the only nations viewed where greatly educated immigrants make up the foreign-born majority. Higher than 60% of immigrants in Canada and Australia have college degrees, the report reveals. In contrast, only approximately 40% of immigrants are regarded as highly skilled in the UK, Sweden, and Israel.
In the US, just 36% of immigrants ages 25 years and older are college educated, ahead of Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Greece, France, and Italy with the 12 nations, but after the UK, Sweden, and Israel the report authors added.
The U.S. recorded the most significant number of immigrants who are highly skilled, with 14.7 million foreign-born workers age 25 years or older having a diploma or degree in the year 2015. Among 2004 and 2016, there were approximately 1.5 million international students who finished graduation from the universities of U.S. and got temporary permission to work in the nation. The same amount of workers were also approved initially for an H-1B work visa sponsored by companies of U.S.
