Mandate Letter to the Minister Shows Canadas Immigration Preferences

The new Canadian immigration minister, Marco Mendicino, has been appointed with principal tasks including the execution of Canada’s increased yearly Plan of Immigration Levels for 2020-2022 and the latest Municipal Nominee Program. The major tasks allocated to the Minister are described in the Mandate Letter sent to the Canadian immigration minister, Marco Mendicino, which was announced by the Federal government recently.

The tasks allotted to the immigration minister are in line with the Liberal Party’s policies of immigration, which were passed during its initial mandate. It also supports the commitments made by the Liberal party during their election campaign for the next term in the office.

Canadian Immigration Plans to Increase its Immigration Levels

If the latest developments are indicating that the Canadian government will proceed to increase the yearly levels of immigration by approximately 10000 in 2022. This indicates the yearly Canadian immigration target would be 341,000 in the year 2020, 350,000 in the year 2021, and approximately 360,000 in the year 2022.

Canada is spending higher than any other nation on the efforts to support new immigrants to integrate well into Canadian society in every aspect. Now the Federal government will examine based on the data available, whether these attempts have been victorious or not in achieving their targets.

Another election commitment of the Liberal party was the launching of the new Municipal Nominee Program, by which regional communities, local labor councils and chambers of commerce will be permitted to sponsor newcomers directly. Approximately 5000 nominations are assumed to be allotted for this specific program.

Further, the recent government has strategies to make this Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIPP) as a permanent program. They are preparing to allocate a minimum of 5000 new places for this program.

Moreover, the Federal government has policies to waive the citizenship fees completely, in reply to the feedback received that the Canadian citizenship application fee is high. With this progress, the government is planning to boost the number of newcomers receiving citizenship by approximately 40% by the year 2024.
