Manitoba PNP-B Undergoes Extensive Changes

21 Aug 2013

Immigration News

Manitoba’s Government announced a number of changes to the Manitoba PNP-B (Provincial Nominee Program for Business) effective immediately. Mentioned below are the procedures and programs that are affected by these changes.

General Changes

Submitting Exploratory Visit Application Form is not necessary anymore. Instead, applicants may now submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) to the program. The EOI will be kept in a pool and assessed on a points-based system.

Successful applicants will be selected from those who have submitted the EOI. EOI submission is free of charge, and the applicants will remain in the pool for up to a year of submitting.

Applications will only be accepted from individuals who submitted an EOI and were subsequently invited by the PNP-B to apply.

Making an exploratory visit to Manitoba by the PNP-B applicants is not required, though it is still strongly recommended.

Processing Fees and Good-Faith Deposit

  • The mandatory good-faith deposit is raised to $100,000 from $75,000.
  • The good faith deposit must be paid upon the approval of application.
  • For new applications, $2,500 non-refundable application processing fee is now required
  • Payment of $2,500 fee is a must for everyone invited from the EOI pool to submit an application

Current Applicants

  • For exploratory visits to Manitoba, letters of invitation will no longer be issued by PNP-B.
  • Applicants who already received a letter of invitation can continue their application. However, they must comply with new documentation requirements and use new application forms. It is requested that the applicants contact the program via email, immediately, to make proper arrangements for an interview and exploratory visit.
  • Applicants who have submitted an Exploratory Visit Application form but have not received a letter of invitation can participate in the EOI pool on a priority basis.
  • Until processing of priority EOI submissions from individuals who submitted Exploratory Visit Applications has been completed, no new EOI submissions will be accepted.
  • Individuals who have been interviewed by a Program Officer and have completed an exploratory visit within the past nine months may submit their applications within 90 days of the official announcement (made on Friday, August 2nd). These applicants will be assessed based on previous requirements.
  • Individuals who have already submitted their application are not affected by this announcement.
