Close collaboration between Danica Pension, Lyngby-Taarbæk municipality and Microsoft ensures a new magnificent domestic and non-residential construction in the town centre of Lyngby. Microsoft’s new domicile in Denmark will be situated there, and the project will set completely new standards for integrated urban living.
The ambitious building project in the heart of Lyngby is an important step towards realising the visions Lyngby-Taarbæk municipality has for the project Knowledge City 2020. The project is a great example of how businesses and municipality can co-create unique solutions which consider both parties.
Mayor Søren P. Rasmussen says: ”The project is a manifestation of an exciting urban development. The knowledge heavy businesses get a closer connection with the urban life and the local student environment. Moreover, the construction project will create a lot of new workplaces and an inviting and dynamic environment between town centre and green areas.”
900 new workplaces in the municipality
For Microsoft, the new domicile is part of an overall vision about creating the future workplace where the employees are supported in their different ways of thinking, working and collaborating through a flexible conversion with the newest technologies. The municipality’s ambitious work to brand itself as the leading knowledge city has been a determining factor for Microsoft’s decision to gather activities and employees from its two companies in Denmark.
”Microsoft is already strongly integrated in Denmark with our 900 employees and more than 3.700 partner businesses, and we look forward to also becoming an active part of the knowledge and university city in Lyngby-Taarbæk. The citizens can make use of our open cafe and technology area, students can use our dedicated study area for school work, and we will continuously host a number of different events which will create even stronger bonds to the local community and Denmark in general,” says Niels Soelberg, Managing Director for Microsoft Denmark.
