The government of New Brunswick Province is investing over $745,000 in the Moncton region help create around 34 new jobs and to grow the economy.

The investment is part of the Workforce Expansion Program and One-Job Pledge initiative from the province.

Jody Carr, Minister of Post-secondary Education, Training and Labor said working with businesses to build jobs and investing in the youth is a primary part of the government's plan to create new opportunities for people of New Brunswick and increase the economy. The minister added that these investments show the government's commitment to the businesses in New Brunswick by providing new post-secondary graduates the capacity to gain invaluable on-the-job work experience.

As part of its strategy for job creation, the government is aiding to support the following businesses from various sectors, including information, post-secondary, manufacturing and communication technology:

  • CGI Information Systems Management Consultant (10 positions);
  • CBI Health Centre PC (9 positions);
  • Missing Link Technologies (6 positions);
  • Oulton's College (5 positions); and
  • Imperial Manufacturing (4 positions).

Carr said, since the launch of One-Job Pledge initiative earlier this year, it has assisted in creating over 600 jobs. He said by making strategic investments similar to this, as well as action items in the Labor Force and Skills Development Strategy, it is clear that the plan of the government to rebuild New Brunswick is working.

Under the initiative, New Brunswick businesses that hire a full-time, permanent employee who received a post-secondary graduate degree in the past 4 years are eligible to receive a 1-year wage incentive. These businesses need to pay a minimum salary per hour of $14. The initiative allows for the reimbursement of the salary’s 70% to not more than $10 per hour for 52 weeks.

Administered by the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labor, One-Job Pledge is part of the Workforce Expansion Program.

The Workforce Expansion Program is one of many initiatives made possible through the Canada-New Brunswick Labor Market Development Agreement.
