Earlier, experienced and middle aged people were showing inclination to discover opportunities and better work-life balance in countries like Australia, Canada or the US than UK. But now, more and more youngsters are showing interest to apply for Australian work visa. According to analysts, the trend for moving abroad to find work has passed to the younger generation.
Siobhan Cummins from global HR firm ORC Worldwide noticed the trend and she explained that working overseas has become a common practice, “Working abroad is no longer a specialist field but is almost expected as a standard part of working life.”
Intra-company transfers is one of the route opted to work abroad. "Many companies offer placements abroad on their graduate schemes and know that providing opportunities overseas will build their reputation as good managers of young talent," explained Cummins. She added that young people are being given far more opportunity to work abroad these days.
David Reed of recruitment agency Expat Recruitment says that the trend for looking for work in Australia and other English-speaking countries is a direct result of the recession and the lack of work opportunities in the UK.
