A survey has revealed that majority of people, i.e. 60% in Australia are in favor of immigration and multiculturalism but they consider that immigrants need to be adaptable to Australian culture.
The survey by Ipsos-Eureka Social Research Institute involved 1,400 and they believe that it must be a multicultural society. And the number of those who believe that newcomers must maintain their culture without any disadvantage is around 48 percent.
Eight out of ten Australians are of the view that Australia is generous to those immigrating to Australia throughout the history. Nearly 61% of Australians admit that immigration has contributed positively to the country and they understand the crucial link between the economic health and the skilled migration.
Low rates of joblessness in the nation coupled with prosperity have invited huge support for skilled immigration in Australia.
The survey also seems to suggest that there appears to be a similar sense of belonging among the immigrants as well as the Australians within one generation.
