Canada wants to target high tech and other entrepreneurs with a new visa. The new entrepreneur visa is an initiative by Jason Kenny, Citizenship and Immigration Minister. The changes made to the Canadian immigration system would be affecting Canada's economic and employment needs directly.
Alexis Pavlich, PS of Jason Kenney says, “Canada seeks young, ambitious, innovative immigrants who will contribute to Canada's job growth and further drive our economy. The start-up visa is an initiative that the government of Canada is exploring to assist in transforming our immigration system into a fast, fair and flexible system that will meet the needs of our economy and help grow our country.”
Venture investment funds would be responsible for selecting entrepreneurs and then the government would allow them for entry into Canada within weeks. This new visa will unite Canadian money and foreign brains for better and prosperous future of Canada.
Pavlich also said that “This program will link brilliant, job-creating, immigrant entrepreneurs with Canadian investors. We want the world's best and brightest to come to Canada - to start businesses and to create jobs in Canada.”
The new visa would be unveiled later this year and Government of Canada has set aside 2750 visas for entrepreneurs and their families.
CIC had issued 700 visas under the old entrepreneur visa last year. An entrepreneur with this visa could do any business small or big and can retrieve back from the business a year later.
CIC predicts that new visas will bring money as well as brain to Canada.
