New Swiss Tax Regulations From February 1st 2013

Switzerland has introduced new banking laws to help international tax authorities in disclosing information on bank accounts held by foreigners. These bank accounts are opened here to avoid taxation at home.

Combined efforts by the European Union, the US and number of other countries have made Switzerland to introduce new banking laws on February 1.

Rules are:

  • New banking regulation allows foreign tax services to send group requests for bank account information of their citizens.
  • Banks, nominal account holders, agents or trust managers will now be obliged to provide the information.
