The government of Newfoundland and Labrador—Canadian province, has declared that the province is all set to promulgate the criteria of new Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker category later January 2015, and thereafter the applications under this program will be accepted by the provincial government.
Under the newly launched NL (Newfoundland and Labrador) Express Entry Skilled employee category, the NL Provincial Nominee Program is allowed to nominate skilled individuals through the Canadian government Express Entry immigration selection system. Akin to the current Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled employee category, the new NL Express Entry Skilled employee category is for skilled employees with jobs or employment offers.
Potential immigrants who are accepted into Express Entry pool would be able to apply for the NL Express Entry Skilled employee category. Applicants who are nominated by the NLPNP would receive extra points in the Comprehensive Ranking System, which results in inviting an applicant to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Prospective immigrants should meet the criteria in order to enter into the pool of Express Entry by being qualified for any of the federal skilled immigration programs such as Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Under the new system skilled immigrants can easily become permanent residents in a faster pace because of swifter processing times and would provide employers with a new path for selecting overseas employees.
