Kumar Iyer, the British deputy high commissioner for western India, said students wishing to pursue higher education in the UK need not worry about visa norms as they are expected to obtain visa if they have got an admission offer from a renowned educational institution.
Deputy high commissioner acknowledged that visa processing for Indian students had faced a difficulty some of them joined to unrecognized and spurious institutions. The process of eliminating such educational institutions is over now and shortly the number of students to get UK visa will rise.
The government also revised some rules related to work opportunities for students after finishing their course and students are now allowed to extend their visa so that they can take up a job in areas related to their academic course.
UK is very open country and issues visa to 9 out of 10 candidates who have applied for a visa and 96 percent of the business applicants gets visa, he said. At the moment visa will take between 7 to 13 working days and fast track options for processing visa within three days with the premium service.
He also mentioned about the ‘passport pass back’ service for Indians, the UK government is considering on this matter, where an applicant will get back his passport after completing necessary scrutiny and remaining visa processing. This will make sure that an applicant passport is not held while visa processing.
