Last week the British envoy made an announcement in relation to Indian students looking to study in the UK. He stated that there would no longer be a cap on their study visa, which meant they would be more free to study in the UK. Current policy means that Indian students must leave the UK after the completion of their course
The changes come after a massive decline in the number of applications from Indian students looking to study in the UK. The British high commissioner announced 600 scholarship places for Indian students who wanted to take advantage of a world class education system.
Those scholars will take their place alongside half a million other international students. The UK has no cap on visas from any other students from around the world and all nationalities are treated the same.
The British high commissioner was keen to highlight that the UK is also taking part in a number of projects with the Indian government. One of these schemes involves investment in 75 new start up companies. In final comments he stated that British companies invest up to seven per cent of their revenue, training Indian staff so they can develop their skill set.
