According to the NHO (Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises), half of Norwegians were employed as temporary workers and for many of them it has been their pathway to permanent employment. In a recent Work-Life survey from Manpower, half of the respondents said that temporary employment gives them with invaluable work experience.
Almost 30% of the survey respondents said that it provided them with a better CV and 40% had steady employment. Six out of ten people expressed their belief that temporary workers are a workplace’s important resource. Now, for the 2nd year in a row, Manpower has started a competition to find the best temporary worker of Norway.
Director of Manpower Norway, Thor Bendik Weider, said that over 400 nominations were received last year and it was extremely heart-warming to see so many people valuing temporary employees. He said that this year, they are anticipating that even more people will utilize this chance to laud the efforts of temporary workers.
He added that the temporary worker need not be a worker of Manpower – any person who works in the capacity of a temporary worker is eligible and the best temporary worker of Norway makes a difference in his/her workplace; both socially and academically. He said that they are looking for a temporary worker who has the right attitude and skills, and is flexible, reliable and positive.
A panel - that includes the head of NHO Service Even Hagelien, Mr. Weider, and Annelise Brun, last year’s winner - will select the winner. The person nominating the winner will receive an iPad whereas the winner will receive a trip for two to New York.
