Nova Scotia Nominee Program Allows Canadian Foreign Graduates To Reside Permanently

Nova Scotia Nominee Program now allows the international graduate students to settle in Nova Scotia after completing their studies in Canada.

The Nova Scotia province has announced that any overseas graduate from Canadian university or college with a job offer from an employer of Nova Scotia can apply for a permanent residency. Changes in policy have provided an opportunity for overseas graduates to immigrate to Nova Scotia that was not possible earlier.

The University of Nova Scotia welcomes over 7,000 overseas students every year, but less than 50 of them have applied to stay as the paperwork shifted to Ottawa.

As the number of youngsters continues to leave province it is anticipated that province population will gradually be declined over the coming 20 years.

Nova Scotia should make efforts to draw the maximum number of immigrants to reside in Nova Scotia, according to latest Ivany report. Changes in policy also aid universities and colleges to attract more number of overseas students. 

Nova Scotia Office of Immigration and Citizenship and Immigration Canada have mutually agreed to the change in the policy. The province can suggest capable immigrants using Nova Scotia Nominee Program. However,  Citizenship and Immigration Canada takes a final decision.
