NZ Immigration: Re-opens Visa Program For Parents Of Migrant Workers

The NZ government is re-setting and re-opening the visa program for parents of migrant workers intending to come to New Zealand. The visa, which appeals to skilled migrants, was stopped by the NZ government in Oct 2016.

As of now, the former Parent Category system is terminated and a new one will start on Feb 2020, capping at 1000 individuals. The financial demands will grow and will depend on the adult child's income preferably than their parents'.

The capacity for a parent to obtain residency by having secured settlement funds or lifetime income will be eliminated, but parents will still be needed to meet character and health requirements.

Those with present applications pending can update them and keep their present place in the line, while those no longer suitable can apply for a complete refund.
