Obama is insisting Congress to pass immigration reform. He feels that his attempts to fix a broken system that have been held hostage to political posturing and special-interest wrangling. During his first year in office, he promised to tackle immigration reform.

Obama said that the process for legal immigration should be streamlined to allow the "best and brightest" to come and start businesses.

Republicans are united in their opposition to immigration reform legislation and say that they will not consider comprehensive immigration reform until the Obama administration secures the nation�s borders.

Obama is sending 1,200 National Guard troops to the U.S. -Mexico border, and he is seeking $600 million to hire more Border Patrol agents, Customs Officers and implement programs to reduce narcotics and human smuggling. Obama told that, "Today we have more boots on the ground on the Southwest border than at any time in history".
