The Australian government has announced that from 23 November 2014, overseas individuals can apply for subclass 400 visa, which enables them to stay in Australia for a maximum period of six months. The period of initial entry might also take place within a period of six months.
Australia Subclass 400 visa is a temporary work visa issued for overseas highly skilled individuals, where an individual often need a short notice. In order to obtain this visa overseas nationals do not require any employer sponsorship. And the visa requirements for subclass 400 visa are less onerous than long-term Subclass 457 Temporary Work (Skilled) visa. Nationals from all over the world can now apply for this visa through online.
However, to access this visa for a period of six months, a robust business case should be presented. Overseas individuals requesting to reside over a period of three months would be needed to produce a proof stating that their actions would not harmfully impact native employees.
In order to extend the individuals stay over three months, the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection would also consider any of the evidences such as a proof regarding the size, nature, importance and duration of a project to the native community, a proof that specialist advice or expertise from foreign country is needed, which may include an evidence from an employment agency stating the lack of similarly skilled individuals in Australia. Applicants employment situations, which includes individuals salary arrangements whether they are in reference to native labor market requirements.
