With no possible alternative present to costly single-ride tickets, restaurants have taken to hoarding the left out 'klippekort' tickets to help the visitors in city
Denmark Tourists will face more expensive fares for public transport after a halt in sales of the ten-ride klippekort tickets on July 1.
With the introduction of the Rejsekort electronic travel card, there is no inexpensive and simple substitute for people and tourists who don’t need a whole-day ticket or some same package deals. Instead, they are forced to buy full-price tickets, this is twice expensive than the discounted multi-ride fares.
“Now that the klippekort era is drawing to a close we still have not found a good, permanent solution. I still can’t say whether we can come up with a Rejsekort variant that could help solve this challenge,” Anders Due, a Movia manager, told MetroXpress newspaper.
Copenhagen City Danhostel, a hostel accommodating 200,000 tourists every year, purchased klippekort tickets in bulk, and intended to sell their visitors as a temporary solution.
“We have hoarded some, but when they run out we will face a problem. Not all tourists need the expensive Copenhagen Card,” manager Jeanette Birkedal told MetroXpress.
One solution for tourists is to purchase an anonymous, temporary, Rejsekort, these are available in few areas.
