PEI Immigration Plans To Conduct Expression Of Interest Draw On Dec 19

The last Expression of Interest draw for immigration to Prince Edward Island, this year will be conducted for the year on Thursday, December 19^th. It will target candidates in the entrepreneurs and skilled workers present in the Labor Impact, Business Impact, and Express Entry categories of the PEI Provincial Nominee Program.

PEI commenced the Expression of Interest in 2018 and holds monthly draws. Totally in the 11 draws during 2019, PEI invited 1,516 candidates, of which 1,329 were in the Express Entry or Labor Impact stream and 182 in the Business Impact stream.

Details of PEI PNP Draws in 2019

In 2018 PEI had issued 1,446 invitations of which 1,240 were in Express Entry and Labor Impact categories and 206 were for the Business Impact candidates. Its largest draw was held on Oct 18^th, 2018, which issued 297 invitations

PEI Express Entry Stream

Express Entry category of PEI works after it considers candidates who are already present in the federal Pool of Express Entry to seek the provincial nomination. Furthermore, the nomination will add 600 points in the CRS score and assure the candidate an ITA for immigration to Canada.

Also, two paths exist in the PEI Express Entry Category to get the PR. In it, the first deals with the candidates having a job offer and the second deals with those not having a job offer 

PEI Labor Impact Category

Skilled Worker Stream

This is a stream with a focus on employers that allows skilled workmen having the offer of employment in PEI to get the nomination for Permanent residence in case they are meeting these criteria:

• A full-time offer of employment from a provincial business in a job classified as skill level 0, A or B of the NOC;
• Completing education, (post-secondary) minimum of 14 years of formal studies;
• Age has to be between 21 and 55 years;
• The work experience of Two years (full-time) in the preceding 5 years;
• Enough proficiency in French/English to perform in the employment offered;
• Adequate funds for settlement;
• An intention to settle in PEI

Critical Worker Stream

The category is aims resolving labor shortages and caters to overseas workers already staying in PEI doing a job in specified demand occupations. The nomination criteria are:

The full-time employment offer from a local business in the occupations of:

• Customer service representatives;
• Truck drivers;
• Laborers;
• Housekeeping attendants
• Food & beverage servers;
• 6 months of PEI work experience;
• Presently valid work-permit in Canada;
• High school diploma and 12 years of formal studies;
• Age has to be between 21 and 55 years;
• Two years of work experience (full-time) in the preceding 5 years;
• Enough proficiency in French/English to perform in the employment offered;
• Adequate settlement funds;
• An intention to settle in PEI
• PEI Business Impact Category

Work Permit Stream

Individuals that submit an application in the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream have to get work- permit in Canada and also work for a PEI business for a specific time as assigned in the Performance Agreement. After it is fulfilled, applicants must invest $150,000 in that business and manage it on a daily basis from inside the Island.

Previously, PEI operated business streams directly for permanent residence but closed them in Sep 2018 regarding some concerns.
